For instance, the new guide is certainly handy, and it’s intuitive for future reference. But it’s not yet integrated with the My Media Content folder in Windows XP. So if you are using an XP machine, you’ll need to import your content into Media Player just to find it. You could, of course, copy over your entire music collection from another OS, but that seems a bit excessive.

While the Media Player/File Explorer combo found in Windows 7 lets you listen to movies on the PC, the video player in Windows 11 goes one better. Not only does it stream H.264/AVC media, but it can also play back any format including VC1, WMV, MKV, and MPEG-4.

The player has support for all the hardware you need (like surround sound and high-def resolutions) to see your videos in the best possible way, whether youre viewing them on a PC screen, TV, or other display. I like the new adjustable audio presets, too. You can tweak the volume on the fly by sliding the dial along the volume control. (A PC version of Windows Media Player can do this, but the player for Windows 11 does it better.)
